Sabah and Sarawak are set to increase maternity and paternity leave, aligning their policies with the Employment Act 1955. Maternity leave will be extended 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟔𝟎 𝐭𝐨 𝟗𝟖 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬, and paternity leave will be set at seven days. These changes, effective from January 1 last year, also include enhanced protections against discrimination and sexual harassment at work. The amendments will be proposed in the next Parliamentary session scheduled from June 24 to July 18.
