KOTA KINABALU (Sept 5): The Sabah Cabinet has decided that Sept 17 will not be an extra public holiday in place of Sept 16. “This year’s Malaysia Day, a public holiday coincides with Maulidur Rasul (Prophet Muhammad’s birthday), also a public holiday on September 16. “However, the State Cabinet has decided that there will be no public holiday replacement for the next day for the public sector,” said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor in a statement today. For the private sector, he said it is up to the discretion of employers whether to grant their employees a holiday on Sept 17.
