KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- The Dewan Rakyat saw the first reading of the Sabah Labour Ordinance (Amendment) Bill 2024 today, aiming to revise the Labour Ordinance (Sabah Chapter 67) last amended in 2005. Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong, who introduced the bill, announced that the second reading would occur during the next session. In a subsequent press conference, Sim highlighted the nearly two-decade-long effort to align worker rights and welfare in Sabah with those in Peninsular Malaysia, as outlined in the Employment Act 1955 (Act 265).
